Harrison Ford has jet run-in at California airport

This isn't Ford's first rodeo: you can read about a few more of his crashes, and perhaps more importantly his aviation accomplishments, at CBS News.

Harrison Ford is under investigation by USA flight authorities after apparently landing his private plane on the wrong part of John Wayne airport in Orange County, California.

Harrison Ford had another incident while piloting his small airplane on Monday, during which almost hit a larger plane at a Southern California airport. "The pilot correctly read back the clearance", the FAA statement read.

He was then told he landed on a taxiway rather than the runway.

The FAA is investigating the incident now.

The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation after Ford's Aviat Husky flew over the airliner which was on the ground with passengers on board.

Ford's representatives could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

An Aviat Husky, the plane involved in the incident.

Ford's crashed vintage plane on a golf course in Los Angeles, 5 March 5 2015.

John Wayne Airport spokeswoman Deanne Thompson would say only that "something did happen yesterday" but declined to offer details, saying the FAA was investigating.

On a recording of his dispatch with air traffic control, Ford asks, "Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?".

Experts heaped praise on Ford, insisting his skills as a pilot helped him land the plane without threatening any lives. The actor crash-landed a World War II-era airplane on a golf course in Santa Monica in 2015 after the engine failed. Ford suffered several broken bones and a head injury that has since healed. The plane was slightly damaged but Ford and his passengers were unhurt.

In 2000, Ford's plane was blown off a runway in Lincoln, Nebraska, after a gust of wind hit his Beechcraft Bonanza during takeoff.
