Complaint: Man wanted attack similar to Dylann Roof killings

Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell

A SC man with connections to a white supremacy group was arrested Wednesday for allegedly planning an attack "in the spirit of Dylann Roof".

News sources indicate McDowell first came on law enforcement's radar after he became affiliated with a white supremacist group while serving time in SC.

The agent also allegedly agreed to pick McDowell up at his mother's house, then drive to his grandfather's home where he planned to borrow money to buy the gun. The agent said he told McDowell that "I have to make sure that ... if you going to do what you want to do ... that doesn't come back to me", the document states. McDowell said he didn't want an attack coming back to him either, and he wanted to be "scot-free". Those proceedings ended with Roof receiving a death sentence for killing nine black worshipers inside the historic church on June 17, 2015.

On December 26, 2016, McDowell posted to Facebook a message: "I love love to act what u think", followed by a link to the Temple Emanu-El Conservative Synagogue in Myrtle Beach, according to court documents.

Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell, 29, told the Federal Bureau of Investigation employee he wanted to do something on a "big scale" and then write on the building he had targeted, "In the spirit of Dylann Roof". In an instant message on Facebook, McDowell requested an "iron", a code word for a firearm, the complaint against him said.

A previous dossier of McDowell's arrest included the man being busted for malicious injury to animals, personal property, second-degree burglary, drug possession of marijuana, along with assault and battery in the third degree.

The resolution, which was unanimously adopted in December 2015, aims to establish governance and come up with a new constitution. However, Russia, Iran and Turkey agreed that the rebels should take part in UN-led peace talks opening in Geneva on February 20.

The agent said McDowell voiced frustration over other white supremacists, saying that screaming "white power" wasn't getting the job done. McDowell met the undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agent on January 12, when the agent was posing as a white supremacist who "handled problems for the Aryan Nations", according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit. Like, I got desire. not for nobody else.it just.

"I got the heart to do that shit, but I don't have the good training", McDowell allegedly told the undercover agent. "I want something where I can say, "I fucking did that".me personally".

A report via wmfb told of the previously convicted felon, Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell of Conway arranging a meet where he sought to buy a.40 caliber Glock and ammunition.

Around Jan. 25, the document says he posted on Facebook the following statement: "Clean up world jewelry in the name of Yahweh". They arrested him "soon after" at the Hampton Inn on Celebrity Circle in Myrtle Beach. The agent also sold McDowell hollow point ammunition.

McDowell is scheduled for a detention hearing at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Florence, S.C.
