76ers announce Ben Simmons won't play this season

Trade deadline looming, Sixers cherish what could be final day together

Colangelo fronted reporters on Saturday morning (AEDT) and broke the bad news for both Simmons and Sixers fans.

Simmons fractured the fifth metatarsal bone during the Philadelphia 76ers' final training camp scrimmage in October and hasn't played a game this year.

Ben Simmons will continue to just cheer on the 76ers from the bench as top pick is shut down for season.

After missing the first 56 games of the season, Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons was ruled out for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign Friday due to a foot injury.

The Sixers were hopeful he could play sometime this season. "But there was always an outside chance that it didn't happen because there wasn't complete or full healing".

LAist added: "In America, residents of Parkersburg, West Virginia, have it the best - only 3 hours lost to traffic past year ". The central Polish city of Łódź is the most congested in Europe, according to the 2017 TomTom Traffic Index.

Colangelo expressed that the team was hopeful Simmons would see game action this season, but believed that risking further injury was not worth it. But he went to a NY doctor for a scan of his foot Thursday, according to Philly.com, which showed his fracture had not fully healed.

"Unfortunately, Ben is going to sit out".

Philadelphia has dealt with unfortunate injuries to three out of four of their last first round draft picks.

Simmons had surgery to fix a broken foot in early October and was initially expected to return by December or January. But those cheers were fizzled out by the news that Simmons' NBA debut wouldn't come until later in the season because of a broken foot.

"I have always known that there was a desire to get him back on the court when healthy", Colangelo said.
