Bihar recruitment body chairman, close relatives jailed in test paper leak scandal

BSSC paper leak Angered by Sudhir Kumar's arrest IAS Association demands transfer of case to CBI

The Special Investigation Team probing the multi-crore employment scam in Bihar has arrested senior IAS officer and chairman of Bihar Staff Selection Commission, Sudhir Kumar for playing a key role in the scam.

Kumar, who had earlier served as state home secretary, and his relatives were arrested in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where the officer had gone on a short leave.

The IAS association have protested Sudhir Kumar's arrest and chose to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the matter.

Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) chairman Sudhir Kumar, who was arrested along with his family members in connection with test paper leak scandal, was sent to jail on late Friday night.

The Association said that they will continue to stand by them and will fight for them. "Arbitrary arrests of honest & sincere IAS officers is not done", the IAS (Central) Association tweeted.

"Sudhir Kumar has all along been cooperating with the investigation and, therefore, the arrest is absolutely unwarranted. His integrity can't be questioned", said an office-bearer of the IAS officers body.

The release said the Association has "decided to bear all legal and other expenses on his behalf".

The SIT said the arrest was made after gathering adequate technical evidence.

Secretary of the Bihar branch of the IAS Officers' Association, Vivek Singh, has expressed the officers' concerns to the Bihar Chief Secretary and also sought time from the Chief Minister.

The Bihar government had on February 8 last cancelled the BSSC examination held to fill up the posts of clerks in state government jobs in the wake of paper leak.
