Joel Embiid, battling knee swelling and soreness, sent for MRI

Joel Embiid

He's averaging a remarkable 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in just 25.4 minutes, but even the team's careful monitoring of his health this season couldn't prevent this setback.

Embiid was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday afternoon.

Joel Embiid won't hit his target return date of Friday night against the Knicks. Embiid has missed 14 of Philly's last 15 games after suffering what was initially diagnosed as a left knee contusion, but was later reported by Sixers beat man Derek Bodner and confirmed by the team to be a tear in the meniscus in his left knee. The 76ers had him sit out for a week, missing three games, but he was back in the lineup on January 27 playing 28 minutes against Houston.

The Sixers also had some injury news about Simmons, who has yet to play his first National Basketball Association game: He had minor surgery to stimulate bone growth in his injured foot.

Simmons fractured his foot on September 30, the final day of pre-season training camp.

Airbus hit by military plane issues
In Q4, Airbus took a €1.2 billion charge on the A400M military transporter, bringing the full year total to €2.2 billion. Airbus confirmed a projection of more than 700 jetliner deliveries in 2017, up from a record 688 in 2016.

Simmons, the No. 1 overall pick in June's draft, and the Sixers had hoped he would play this season, but January 23 and February 23 CT scans showed the bone hadn't fully healed.

Furthermore, Ben Simmons, who is yet to see court-time for the 76ers since being taken with the 1st pick in the 2016 NBA Draft will undergo a minor medical procedure to stimulate bone growth and accelerate the healing process on his injured foot.

Also, guard Jerryd Bayless is slated to have the cast removed from his surgically repaired left wrist next week, when he can begin therapy and rehabilitation. Last week, the Sixers said he would miss the next four games.

Bayless' wrist has been immobilized for the past three months.
