Nuclear missiles tested in IRAN despite tough talking from Trump administration

A member of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards chants slogans after attacking a naval vessel during a military drill in the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran

The US sanctioned 13 individuals and 12 entities related to missile programme and Trump's national security adviser Michael Flynn said that the US was putting Iran on notice over its "destabilising activity".

During the drills on Tuesday, the Valfajr torpedo was sacked from the homegrown Ghadir Submarine and successfully destroyed a floating target. It carries explosive warheads that weigh approximately 220 kilograms and are capable of crippling naval targets in different weather and depth conditions.

Iran held naval drills at the mouth of the Gulf and Indian Ocean on Sunday, (26 February) according to a navy commander.

The latest naval cruise missile, called Nasr, was test-fired during "Velayat 95" naval exercises stretching from the Strait of Hormuz and Oman Sea to north of the Indian Ocean, Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said, as quoted by the Fars news agency on Monday.

76ers announce Ben Simmons won't play this season
Simmons had surgery to fix a broken foot in early October and was initially expected to return by December or January. Colangelo fronted reporters on Saturday morning (AEDT) and broke the bad news for both Simmons and Sixers fans.

Just last week, Iran's foreign minister responded to the renewed hostility coming from the US and said Iran is "unmoved by threats" but "responds well" to respect.

Barrels of oil in their millions are transported everyday to the United States, Europe and Asia through the strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandab.

Iran was warned that it was playing with fire and the Trump administration declared that no options had been ruled out, implying that military action is a possibility. Iran argues that its ballistic missile program is also not covered by the resolution because it does not have a nuclear weapons program.

The general's comments came just days after the Revolutionary Guards reported that they had test-fired "advanced rockets" as part of the nation's three-day drills.
