Witness to Biloxi bus crash: 'Body pieces were thrown everywhere'

One witness told the paper the bus was hit about five to 10 minutes after it had became stuck on the tracks.

Biloxi Police Chief John MIller told WLOX he did not yet know why the bus was stopped on the tracks when it was hit by the train. Another one took place 20 years before that, in 1983.

The accident happened in Biloxi, Mississippi at around 2.15pm local time.

It took more than an hour for officials to pry the victims - most of whom were senior citizens - from the mangled wreck.

A flier for the tour says some passengers boarded Sunday in Austin, Texas, and others boarded about 30 miles east in Bastrop, Texas. The fourth person who passed away died after the accident, Miller told reporters.

"We want to express our thanks to the clergy members who were on the scene this afternoon", Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said.

DREAMer detained by ICE moments after speaking at immigration rally
The Trump administration has yet to dismantle the DACA program, which exists at the discretion of the president. Vargas, 22, came to the USA from Argentina when she was seven years old, according to Peterson.

Officials initially said four people died in the Tuesday crash and then revised it down to three.

The names of the four killed in the collision between a freight train and a charter bus carrying Texas tourists were not immediately released, but a Texas school district spokesman confirmed that two former administrators with the district were killed in the crash Tuesday.

Kemp said he was sitting at a stop sign, on his way to pick up his child from school Tuesday, when he noticed a "commotion" on the train tracks. Kemp said he parked his vehicle and tried to jump onto the bus to help the victims but the window was too high.

Each year in the US, there are about 2,200 grade crossing accidents with a number of fatalities, according to Sumwalt. He says emergency workers had to cut through the bus wreckage to remove two people. Creel said the bus driver was alert and speaking with medical personnel after the crash. Last night, the Federal Railroad Administration said three of its inspectors and a state inspector were en route to the site where the train ran into the middle of a charter bus' side.

The railroad based in Jacksonville, Fla., said in a statement Tuesday that no crew members were injured in the incident and signal lights were working at the time of the incident, WBTV reported.
