Kremlin Spokesman: Russian Envoy Met With Clinton Campaign Staff, Too

CNN's Fareed Zakaria spoke with Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov in an interview that aired this morning where they discussed, well, the reason so many Americans are talking about Russian Federation right now.

"But there were no meetings about elections - electoral process ..."

In reference to meetings berween Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak (seen below) and US Attorney General Jeff Sessions on two occasions before the elections, Peskov stressed that the envoy was just doing his job.

Concerning similar-style meetings between members of the Clinton campaign and Kislyak, Peskov said, "If you look at some people connected with Hillary Clinton during her campaign, you would probably see that he had lots of meetings of that kind".

Zakaria asked him, "Did the Russian government have any collaboration or serious communication back and forth with Donald Trump's campaign during the election campaign previous year?"

Peskov also rejected allegations that Russian colluded with Trump officials to disrupt the election, saying the United States is "self-humiliating" itself by even raising such claims.

"The answer is very simple, no", Peskov replied.

Taylor Swift's Stalker Arrested for Breaking Into Her Apartment Building
NY judge David Frey also signed an order of protection against the man, barring any contact with country-turned-pop star Swift. Twenty-nine year old Mohammed Jaffar had been loitering around the popstar's apartment building in Tribeca since December 2016.

"The candidate Hillary Clinton was quite negative about our country in her attitude and in her program, declaring Russian Federation being almost the main evil in the world and the main threat for the United States", Peskov told CNN, adding that Trump expressed a willingness to come to an understanding with the Kremlin. 'You're self-humiliating yourself, saying that a country can intervene in your election process'.

"We will never let anyone to put his nose in our domestic affairs, but we're quite reciprocal in that attitude when it comes to other countries".

Peskov echoed that sentiment in the CNN interview, but urged the United States to do more to kickstart the dialogue.

"The fact that Russian Federation is being demonized in that sense comes very odd to us".

Asked his thoughts on the first weeks of the Trump administration, Peskov said his boss, President Putin, had found President Trump pragmatic, but also expressed some concern.

Improved relations between Russia and Turkey were on display in Moscow as Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
