"It is what a hero does, if I would've need to die to save that woman, I would've done it". The woman - an off-duty Miami-Dade police officer who had her two children in the backseat - was suffering from a medical emergency.

He hopped out of the window and ran to her auto.

He was serving breakfast to a lady in an SUV along with her children, a boy and a girl. "I thought immediately something's going on with that woman right now and I got to do something".

"Her kids were screaming", he recalled to NBC Maimi.

Surveillance footage provided to Miami-based station WPLG showed the fast-acting employee, Pedro Viloria, jumping out of the Doral store's drive-thru window after a customer very slowly pulled away and ran into a median.

The SUV hit a curb, which caused it to come to a stop.

The man told the police and the reporters that by the time the female police officer reached his drive-thru window she had trouble breathing. Viloria ran back inside the restaurant for help, but another customer, who is a paramedic, was already running toward the officer.

"I thought, 'If those kids lose their mother today, that's going to be tragic, '" Viloria told the media.

The restaurant chain praised Viloria, and said a second staff member sprang into action by giving CPR. Their quick thinking and action were everything in that moment'.
