Calvert-Lewin, Lukaku lead Everton rout of Hull

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has assured star striker Romelu Lukaku the Goodison Park faithful will not turn on him after the Belgium global told the club he will not immediately sign a new deal.

It all means that Calvert-Lewin now plays for a team that has played six league fixtures at Goodison Park in 2017 where the scorelines have been 3-0, 4-0, 6-3, 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 in their favour.

Koeman, speaking in an interview via Mirror, has since pleaded with the club's avid and passionate supporters to brush the obscurity surrounding Lukaku's future aside, and get behind the 23-year-old as he aims to fire the Toffees and himself towards European football.

Everton had to wait until the 78th minute for Enner Valencia to double their lead shortly after Hull had midfielder Tom Huddlestone sent off. Lukaku added some late gloss.

On Tuesday the Belgium global told the club he would not be signing the new £140,000-a-week contract to make him the highest-paid player in their history as he questioned whether they had the ability to reach the Champions League.

Durban looses rights to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games
Liverpool's hopes of hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games have been boosted with Durban set to bow out over financial issues. The 2018 games will be held in Sydney, Australia, with the countdown officially being set off today at Buckingham Palace.

"We kept the momentum".

The Everton chief believes if the striker does an about-turn and pens the club's five-year offer, he could still achieve all his dreams. "But the final result didn't reflect what happened on the pitch", Koeman said.

"We know every Premier League game is hard and what happened last week doesn't count any more".

At home the Dutchman's more pragmatic, direct approach has already garnered 31 points from a possible 42 and they have lost just once there in the league in the last 12 months - against Liverpool in December.

Romelu Lukaku is wanted by Chelsea and Manchester United. I want my team to be the best. We didn't deserve this.
