Uber loses president after controversies continue to rock the ride-hailing giant

One thing is for sure: so long as the report is accurate, it doesn't look good for Uber.

San Francisco-based Uber Technologies Inc. has confirmed that its President Jeff Jones has resigned from his position, deepening turmoil at the ride-hailing company.

The role of Jones, who had been performing some of COO's responsibilities, was put into question after the company launched a search for a COO to help run the company alongside CEO Travis Kalanick.

The biggest flashpoint for the company came last month when a former Uber engineer, Susan Fowler, detailed in a blog post a number of instances of sexual harassment and gender bias at the company.

In a rare conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Huffington said that outside speculation of removing Kalanick from the CEO job is purely hypothetical and there haven't been any discussions at the company about it.

"We're updating many customer support policies that were unintentionally stacked against drivers".

Dovish Fed, weaker dollar lifts gold to one-week high
A weaker dollar typically strengthens the investment appeal of precious metals, which are priced in the US currency. Prices on benchmark 10-year Treasuries fell 8/32 to yield 2.531 percent, up from 2.504 percent late on Wednesday.

However, the promises fell short of what many drivers have been calling for. "I can no longer continue as president of the ride sharing business", he said.

"That's the number one request from drivers". The company will install training to improve the culture, she said.

In response, Uber announced it would launch an investigation led by Eric Holder, who served under President Barack Obama as attorney-general, the highest ranking police officer in the US. Hornsey promised that the company's first report on diversity would be forthcoming. She also emphasized that despite the PR problems and loss of riders who chose to #DeleteUber earlier this year, Uber has continued to experience growth: both attracting new riders and seeing existing riders take more trips.

Kalanick, she said, "started as a scrappy entrepreneur and now must change".

"Uber must change", said board member Arianna Huffington, "if it is to be as successful in the next decade as it has in the last seven years".
