Equaliser almost made me vomit: Klopp

Benik Afobe Bournemouth

Liverpool remain third following Manchester Citys loss to Chelsea but have played more games than anyone else in the top six.

Despite the fact that Joshua King was surrounded by red shirts, the Bournemouth midfielder still managed to get his shot off.

At first it seemed Klopp might not fancy him but during the second half of last season it appeared he'd become the golden boy.

They also score more goals with the former Southampton star in the side, averaging 2.3 per game compared to just 1.3 when he's not part of the team.

But the Liverpool manager insists his squad are better equipped to cope without the forward at this stage of the campaign and hinted a more defensive approach may be required to secure a top four finish.

On a positive note, Divock Origi looked in good form against Bournemouth, stepping in for the injured Sadio Mane who looks increasingly likely to miss the rest of the season with his knee injury. He might have had to make do with more time on the bench than he would have liked this season, through bad luck and timing more than anything, but few Chelsea supporters would question his value to the team.

You would think Liverpool's rivals are all flying high and thrashing the lesser sides, while the Reds are toiling away beneath them.

Klopp tried to ensure Liverpool held on to their lead against Bournemouth by switching to a three-man defence with 25 minutes to go when he replaced the ill Philippe Coutinho with centre-back Joel Matip. "We didn't, we left it open", he said.

Islamic State overran about a third of Iraq in 2014, benefiting from the Sunni-Shi'ite rift that weakened the army. On Wednesday night, a suicide truck bomb targeted a police checkpoint on Baghdad's main southern entrance.

"Managing players is always a challenge", Klopp added.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said full back Luke Shaw used "his body with my brain" during his side's 1-1 draw with Everton on Tuesday and has urged the England global to develop a better understanding of the game.

However, when asked if the injury was potentially season-ending for the Senegal global, the Liverpool manager replied: "Unfortunately that is possible but why should I say it now when I don't know?"

Wednesday's draw is the second time this season Liverpool succumbed to a late Bournemouth charge, after the 4-3 loss in the return leg, where they led 3-1 midway through the second half.

"Then a second ball after a set-piece and that made me almost vomit, actually".

First up are the away games against Stoke and West Brom and Origi's physical presence as much as anything should be good in those two matches.

Liverpool have been given a £100,000 fine and banned from registering academy players after being found guilty of "tapping up" a young player at Stoke City. If only the Reds could do it the easy way.
