Michigan boy, 11, hangs himself after social media prank

An 11-year-old boy who tried to kill himself after a “horrific” social media prank has sadly passed away

The girl is charged with malicious use of telecommunications services - and using a computer to commit a crime.

Captain Mike Kohler, of the Marquette Police Department, confirmed an investigation into Tysen's death is underway, but declined to comment directly on Goss' allegations.

Goss alleges the boy's girlfriend played a "horrific social media prank", telling her son she was going to kill herself and then writing from another friend's device that she was dead.

Goss says the accused girl was Tysen's girlfriend, who allegedly faked her own suicide on various social media sites.

The mourning mother also claimed that her son contacted the girl's friends to let them know that he was considering suicide, but she kept the prank going and did nothing to let Goss or police know of Benz's plan. "It's a twisted, sick joke". His mother says no one involved in the prank told an adult.

Moments later, his mother found him hanging by the neck in his room in Marquette, Michigan. She said she hopes the devastating incident sends the message that parents have to be aware of the dark side of social media.

Tysen was on life support until Tuesday, when he died, according to the fundraising page, which was first set up to pay for medical costs.

"Many of us have followed Tysen's mother on social media and agree wholeheartedly in her statements regarding the dangers of social media", Saunders said to the New York Post. "For him to do that so suddenly just because of a girl, whatever she said. that just shows the effects of social media pranking and bullying".

What the death of broadband privacy rules means
This latest Trump era attack on regulations is being seen as the first of many that could alter the future of the internet. During a floor debate, she said that, "Republicans want this (private) information to be sold without your permission".

According to FOX UP, his mom is using her heartbreak to urge parents to talk to their kids about life and the dangers of the internet.

In an exclusive with the nypost, Katrina Goss of Marquette said her son Tysen Benz died at Ann Arbor hospital on Tuesday after finding her son trying to take his own life, March 14.

In 2006, Megan Meier committed suicide after a woman who lived in her family's neighborhood in St. Charles County, Missouri, encouraged the 13-year-old to kill herself.

The teenage girl and some of her friends orchestrated the prank.

On a GoFundMe page created by Ms. Goss to cover Tyler's expenses, the heartbroken mother remembered her boy as an, "all-around unbelievable child" who loved to make people laugh.

"He has now been set free and can rest in peace".

Still, though, Goss has some strong words for the girl, saying to reporters, "I'm quite angry". Her family is "completely heartbroken" over his death, she said.
