NES Classic Edition To Be Discontinued Plus Stock Update

Nintendo is working on a Mini SNES—report

Neither could they add extra NES games to the console, as it could not link up with Nintendo's Virtual Console service present on more modern hardware, unless they overwrote the Classic's software with a different operating system and imported another suite of emulated games, which some chose to do.

The recent update will be a big blow for folks who have yet to get hold of a Nintendo Mini NES Classic Edition.

Nintendo is planning to come out with the SNES Mini, which is why the NES Classic Edition was discontinued. Hopefully Nintendo will be able to keep up with demand this time around. The new classic console is also a major reason why Nintendo really didn't intend to continue producing the NES Classic Edition, despite its popularity.

Reports suggest that Nintendo is gearing up to launch the Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES Edition, riffing on the success of the NES Mini's success.

Dairy farmers worry about trade to Mexico

Microsoft used to released numbers for their console sales in each earnings report, but stopped sharing that information at the end of 2014.

While it was not unexpected, fans were still a little surprise when Nintendo made a decision to end the NES Classic out of the blue and although Nintendo has not said anything about it yet, Eurogamer might have heard something that could explain why the NES Classic had to go.

NES Classic Edition, meantime, is rumored to make a comeback during the holiday season. Of course, we don't know which games Nintendo will choose to release with their new console, but we have all the faith in the gaming legends.

Games such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid would likely be guaranteed to appear, as they're among the console's defining titles. That said, allowing the SNES Mini library to expand via purchased downloads (a la the Virtual Console on other Nintendo consoles) seems like a no-brainer way to provide a continued revenue stream and longer-term interest in the hardware.
