Samsung Galaxy S8: Once Broken Consider It Dead

Samsung Electronics Co.'s Galaxy S8 smartphone is displayed at a Seoul-based retail shop in this

The company has now pronounced it a software issue rather than a hardware quality bump as earlier expected.

The issue sees the displays of certain devices tainted by an unnaturally rosy hue.

The new smartphones are due to be rolled out to some 50 more countries next week. This contains fixes for 49 CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) that can be found on Android and a patch for 16 problems that are particular to Samsung Galaxy handsets.

Kim added that mobile carriers' profit from the phone will depend on whether customers choose to take the lump-sum cash-back on the phone or a discount on their monthly phone bill, which would cost the telecom operators more money.

Instead, its claimed that its addressing the situation purely as a way to calm consumer unrest. This is certainly not an ideal solution though and a new announcement from Samsung says the issue will be fixed with a software update. Samsung continues to insist that there are no problems with its flagship phones, but is willing to upgrade the software to address "some dissatisfied customers".

Samsung Electronics Co. started official sales of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones in South Korea, kicking off full-fledged efforts to strengthen its mobile business hurt by the discontinued Galaxy Note 7 phablets past year. We will have to wait in order to see if the problem also exists with the worldwide S8 models.

Samsung Electronics Co.is estimated to make less than 100,000 won ($88.20) for each Galaxy S8 smartphones sold, industry watchers said Friday, hovering far below the market price of 935,000 won.

The camera itself has received less coverage, as it's actually the same 12MP dual pixel module as the one that appeared in last year's Galaxy S7.

On top of this, the phone is powered by a new octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. Other phone manufacturers might boast of more megapixels, but as any photography enthusiast knows, of the many factors that go into making a killer camera, megapixel count is a fairly minor one.
