Erdogan seeks to send Trump stern message on Syrian Kurds

Islamic State attack kills 32 by Syria refugee camp on Iraq border

Just days after 20 Kurdish fighters assisting U.S. troops were killed by a Turkish airstrike, Trump has sent armed vehicles to the same location.

Turkey's military has relocated a convoy of armoured vehicles and personnel carriers to a base near the Syrian border as tensions with USA -backed Syrian Kurdish militants escalate, local media and activists reported Saturday.

But Turkey views Syria's Kurdish People's Protection Units, known as YPG, as a terrorist organization and an extension of the Kurdish militants who have been waging a three-decade-long insurgency against Turkey. The Pentagon said last week that US forces operate "in close proximity with" SDF fighters in northern Syria, including near the Turkish border.

"We have forces in the entirety of northern Syria, the border is among the area where they operate", said Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman. Turkey claimed it targeted "terror hubs" infiltrated by members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which Turkey considers to be a terrorist group. Turkey conducted airstrikes against the group in Syria and Iraq on Tuesday, prompting clashes.

The U.S.'s support of the Kurds in Syria has enraged Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey.

United States troops deployed along the border with Turkey between the Kurdish majority city of Qamishli and the Turkish town of Nusaybin, another source said.

"They will look for a place for themselves to hide", he said.

"Turkey knows what to do and when to do it, we may come there overnight all of a sudden", Erdoğan, hinting on a cross-border operation to drive the terrorist group from the areas in its south. "You can not play with this nation", Mr Erdogan said.

The irony is that DD has one of the best fast bowling contingents in IPL 10 and on their day, they can decimate any batting. Captain Karun Nair will have to use the services wisely in the Kotla pitch that offers some late movement to the Seamers.

The United States is trying to stop two allies - Turkey and the Syrian Kurds - from mauling one another on the margins of the bloodiest, most intractable conflict of the 21st century.

Turkey has stepped up its attacks against PKK positions in northern Iraq and YPG outposts in Syria over the past few weeks.

Turkey launched a military operation codenamed Operation Eurphrates Shield previous year to push back both Isis and Kurds from its border, but ended the mission last month.

The YPG is the Syrian branch of the Turkish Kurdish Workers Party, the PKK, a Marxist group which has been at war since 1984 trying to carve out a separatist state from Turkey, a US ally and key North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member.

Erdogan expressed regret that the US-YPG alliance -which began under former president Barack Obama- was being continued under the new US administration.

The YPG forms the backbone of the US -backed Syria Democratic Forces.

"We hope that this military mobilisation is not meant to provoke our forces or for another goal linked to entering Syrian territories".

The U.S. slammed the Turkish strikes, saying they were not approved by the U.S. -led coalition and "led to the unfortunate loss of life of our partner forces". "We don't want any military confrontation between us, since our priority is to fight Daesh in Raqqa and Tabqa", Khalil told the Associated Press in cellphone text messages. Americans provide these groups with weapons, ammo and even air support, to say nothing of special task forces involvement.
