Miley Cyrus returns with "Malibu", romantic new song and video

Miley Cyrus

According to ETOnline.com, Miley Cyrus released the video for her highly anticipated new song, "Malibu", on Thursday.

These days, Cyrus is cuddling up to boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, whom she recently revealed to Billboard is the inspiration behind "Malibu".

Her upcoming new album will feature more acoustic songs and melodies written by Cyrus, and will include a song for Hillary Clinton, whom she supported in last year's USA presidential election, and another anthem dedicated to women in the workplace, Billboard said.

Cyrus promised her upcoming music would be different than what we've come to expect from the superstar and she was right. "That was just something that I wanted to do", Cyrus said. In the video, Cyrus can be seen dancing in a field, running on the beach with colorful balloons, and sitting near a waterfall.

Google to settle Italy €306m over tax evasion
The company worked out a similar deal with the United Kingdom over a year ago, paying £130 million to British tax authorities. A Google spokesman said the deal "resolved without disputes investigations relating to the period between 2002 and 2015".

With the cycles of pop-culture shape-shifting being what they are, the normalization of Miley Cyrus is long overdue.

I never would've believed you if three years ago you told me I'd be here writing this song.

The song is a major departure from her 2013 release Bangerz and that VMA performance. But if her acoustic covers of Dylan and Dolly seemed like one-offs in the "Bangerz" era, "Malibu" seems created to convince us she's grown out of shock value and into a more conscious version of the girl-next-door she once seemed.

"I like talking to people that don't agree with me, but I don't think I can do that in an aggressive way", she says.
