ESL and Intel announce massive partnership and $1 million prize

Intel and ESL announce $1 million Intel Grand Slam prize for CS:GO

"This year, we have chose to take our commitment to the next level", Intel CMO Steven Fund said in a statement.

The massive competition itself is the new Intel Grand Slam for CS:GO, with an additional $1 million for any team that manages to stop the Intel Grand Slam victor.

The team that will win this magnificent prize will be the first one to win four of the ten remaining $200,000+ tournaments hosted in tandem by DreamHack and ESL.

The first Grand Slam eligible event will be ESL One Cologne in July a mere week before the PGL Major. Intel will provide equipment for all ESL events. It will be the first desktop PC processor with 18 cores, allowing it to handle "all the megatasking demands of gaming, VR, content creation and more", Intel said. There's also a bounty for spoilers in the tournament series for teams that are the verge of clinching the Grand Slam. For example, should a team have three wins under their belt and are defeated on their final tournament, the team which defeated them will get $100,000.

At the expo, Intel and e-sports company ESL announced they are expanding their 15-year partnership to further advance the worldwide growth and development of e-sports. Today has seen Intel hold its event alongside the PCGamer Show, with reveals including the release date of Lone Echo on Oculus Rift as well as Echo Arena arriving alongside it for free. As ESL's official technology partner, Intel will help grow all of ESL's esports events around the globe and deliver a world-class experience for competitors and viewers. Not only do they offer increased prize pools to winning teams, but also attract other big investors to take esports to new heights.

Thanks to Intel, there's a ton of money on the line for CS:GO teams this year.
