Apple now allows tipping for content creators but with 30% tax

This was the reason why the app came to the attention of Developer Johnny Lin, who has blogged about the App and how Apple let it into the App Store in the first place.

Apple is putting a stop to app developers from endlessly spamming their users with review requests.

In the scenario described, iOS users are enticed to subscribe to illegitimate services such as virus scanners, VPN apps, and password generators, among others.

Apple's newly published update to its App Store policies officially designates tipping to content creators as in-app purchases, with Apple keeping 30 percent of the revenue as commission.

The senior vice president of Apple, Philip Schiller, said in an official press release, "Together with our incredible developer community, we've made the App Store the best app platform in the world, and more than 500 million unique customers visit it every week". Until Apple removes these scam apps and improves its app review policies, spread the word to make sure family and friends don't get ripped off! Apple has explained how they need to carefully test and evaluate the apps submitted to ensure they are safe to use and meet all their requirements. The modifications to the App Store was first noticed by 9to5Mac. The whole post is really worth the read, but the bottom line is this: by buying a few strategically picked search ads and using a bit of SEO, a shady developer can make tens of thousands of dollars off a garbage app by aggressively pushing users to buy subscriptions.

Warriors Rally to Beat Cavs in Game 3 of NBA Finals
Good to hear from you all after The King went scoreless for the final four minutes of Game 3, by the way, LeBron haters. No team has come from 3-0 down to win an National Basketball Association play-off series in 126 attempts.

Problem is, the way Apple's app subscriptions work, agreeing to a "free" trial can automatically opt you in to an auto-renewing subscription. But what's this? The #10 Top Grossing Productivity App (as of June 7th, 2017) was an app called "Mobile Protection: Clean & Security VPN".

On the other hand, perhaps Apple needs to take a little more time. Ads display a small blue icon signifying an advertisement, but otherwise, they're almost indistinguishable from search results.

iOS: If you've never checked on your app subscriptions, I don't blame you.

The next hiccup is an in-app offer for a free antivirus trial that brings up Touch ID for verification that also initiates a seven-day auto-renewing subscription for $99.99 a week.

"They're taking advantage of the fact that there's no filtering or approval process for ads, and that ads look nearly indistinguishable from real results, and some ads take up the entire search result's first page", wrote Lin.
