Cosby prosecutor fights release of juror names

Bill Cosby favoured to walk after retrial, but new jury may be more eager to convict

What are your thoughts on the Cosby case and verdict?

Bill Cosby exits the Montgomery County Courthouse after a mistrial in his sexual assault case in Norristown, Pa., Saturday, June 17, 2017.

"There was no pause or hesitation about that, and we're moving forward", he told reporters. The prosecution could also seek to appeal Judge Steven O'Neill's ruling to exclude testimony from a dozen women who claim Cosby sexually assaulted them.

Cosby's defense against Andrea Constand's allegation that he drugged and raped her in 2004 was that they had consensual sex.

The statement came the day after NPR broadcast an awkward interview with Cosby - awkward because Cosby did not utter one word when repeatedly asked about the charges against him. Cosby's legal team painted Constand as someone who could not be believed. "She's a very spiritual woman, she believes things happen for a goal, and I think the objective is ... it should encourage other women to come forward and have their day in court".

The jury failed to reach a unanimous decision on any of the three counts against the comedian, ending the trial without a verdict after a long week of deliberations.

Cosby's team immediately went on the attack. Cosby's admissions in that deposition led Montgomery County prosecutors to file charges against him.

Gender non-binary residents will soon be able to select "X" for non-specified gender when they apply for their identification cards.

Former teen actor Barbara Bowman told her story to many media outlets in the years after Constand went public.

"How do I describe the judge?" Despite the judge saying this was not a win for either side, Mr. Cosby's spokesperson declared, "Mr. Cosby's power is back!". "It has been restored".

Cosby's wife of 53 years, Camille, slammed prosecutors for bringing the case to court, calling District Attorney Kevin Steele "heinously and exploitively ambitious" in a statement released after court adjourned. While the press has marked him as a pariah in light of all the horrific testimony against him, Cosby is still a Philly folk hero whose contributions to popular culture - I Spy, Fat Albert, The Cosby Show - have so far earned him the sort of impunity reserved for celebrities who act badly. There is also the prospect of a fresh criminal trial in his home state of Pennsylvania.

"We commend those prosecutors who raised awareness that one of the hallmarks of drug-related sexual assaults is the effect the drug has on the victim's memory and ability to recall and were nonetheless willing to present this evidence to the jury", she said in a statement that her attorneys released to U.S. media. Prosecutors suggested he drugged her with something stronger. But he said he'd let the jurors work as long as they wanted. O'Neill instructed them to keep working toward a unanimous decision.

"If the parties previously agreed to stay the civil litigation pending the criminal trial, it is likely that they will continue that stipulation for a retrial", said Priya Sopori, a partner at Greenberg Glusker. "I feel bad for all of you, I really do". The mistrial in Cosby's case came only a day after a Minnesota jury acquitted police officer Jeronimo Yanez of all charges stemming from the shooting death of Philando Castile at a traffic stop on July 6, 2016.

Former federal prosecutor David Weinstein said Cosby's celebrity nearly certainly played a role in the jury's deliberations, perhaps to convince "two or three jurors that it's impossible to convict Dr. Huxtable, to convict Fat Albert. that he couldn't have done this disgusting thing".
