Google will stop scanning Gmail messages to sell targeted ads

This is something that Google has announced in a new Gmail blog post entitled "As G Suite gains traction in the enterprise, G Suite's Gmail and consumer Gmail to more closely align". It is understandable, with the enterprise version of Gmail, the can not just scan emails to create targeted ads, otherwise, those companies will not come on board in the first place. This decision brings Gmail ads in line with how we personalise ads for other Google products.

Alongside the announcement, Greene outlined the importance of the G Suite. There one will see the option to turn off the Ads Personalization feature for his/her account.

That means when you have a dinner reservation in your email, Google will still make suggestions about where that is on the map. You can always disable ad personalization though in your settings, if you're wary about them going through your online activities to serve you ads that may be of interest or benefit to you. It's worth pointing out that in order to keep doing that - it will scan your email content generically. Ads based on scanned e-mail messages drew lawsuits and some of the most strident criticism the company faced in its early years, but offered marketers a much more targeted way to reach consumers.

Nick Clooney shares excitement for new grandchildren
On Tuesday, Salma Hayek happily told People magazine that she is confident in the couple's ability to be great parents. I am very happy for them", adding that George and Amal will be "great parents".

The problem is that many people don't like the idea of Google scanning their emails and as a result Google has promised to stop doing this. She was hired in November 2015 to convince more companies to do business with Google, as Amazon and Microsoft emerged as the market forerunners in cloud storage services. Google has not been scanning the business emails of its 3 million paying customers for inputs into ad targeting, and Greene confirmed there were no long-term plans to.

Firstly, you will have to go to myccount.google.com.

But instead of scanning emails for information, the adverts will be targeted based on other information pulled from sources like search and YouTube.
