Heading to the beaches? Here's your holiday weekend forecast

FORECAST: Scattered storms could pop up for 4th of July

Maybe a little lower rain chance on Sunday with more sunshine and afternoon readings rising into the lower 90s.

For our July 4, no significant changes take place, so it should be a attractive day with more partly cloudy skies! The whole stretch also features southwest winds, which means your "cool relief" spots will be along the South Coast with highs in the 70s to mid 80s. Partly sunny Saturday with highs in the upper 80s, with a slight chance of a thunderstorm.

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9 p.m., low around 61. Our next weather system will bring more clouds Wednesday and scattered showers and storms Thursday. Humidity won't be completely gone, but it will be lower than Saturday with dew points dropping to the low to mid 60s (compared to around 70 on Saturday).

Here in Central Pennsylvania, Friday offers a chance of afternoon showers, but it's Saturday when the humidity is expected to rise and the chance of severe thunderstorms increases, says the National Weather Service.

Rainy weather to potentially interfere with July 4 holiday

A warm front crossing New Hampshire is bringing humidity, rising temperatures and storm chances into the forecast to start the holiday weekend.

Monday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Some of Saturday afternoon's storms may be on the strong side, so keep that in mind if making outdoor plans. Temperatures will turn hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s with some 90s possible out west. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 7 miles per hour in the afternoon. Lows will be in the mid-70s with south winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Partly cloudy Tuesday night, with lows in the mid- to upper 60s.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy with increasing clouds.

The National Weather Service puts the possibility for showers and thunderstorms at 30 percent for July 4.
