"Our relationship is more important perhaps than ever before", McCain said as he left a meeting with Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan's top foreign-policy official, and army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

A delegation of USA senate headed by Senator John McCain has urged both India and Pakistan to settle the Kashmir dispute through dialogue, besides highlighting that peace could not be established in Afghanistan without Pakistan's assistance.

The members of the U.S. delegation included Senators Lindsey Graham (Republican), Elizabeth Warren (Democrat), Sheldon Whitehouse (Democrat) and David Perdue (Republican). While informing the visiting senators about government's efforts to counter terrorism, the premier said that terror attacks have significantly curbed in the country in the past four years.

The US senators also praised the economic turnaround, as manifested by investors' interest and confidence in Pakistan.

Senator John McCain claims there will not be peace in Afghanistan without Pakistan's involvement.

"Concerted efforts are needed for a politically negotiated settlement under an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned peace process", he said.

He said the United States of America attached importance to its relations with Pakistan, which remained a close friend and ally.

Mr Aziz apprised the USA delegation comprising prominent senators from both Democratic and Republican parties about Pakistan's success in combating terrorism through Operations Zarb-i-Azb and Raddul Fasaad and informed them that the terrorist networks had been dismantled, their sanctuaries eliminated under the overarching National Action Plan.
